Li Ming was born in Yuan Jiang, Hunan Province in 1986. He graduated from China Academy of Art in 2008 and currently works and lives in Hangzhou.
He became a member of the Double Fly Art Center—a collective of nine contemporary male artists. Founded in 2008, all members had graduated from the China Academy of Art, Department of New Media Art in Hangzhou, who currently live in various cities across China such as Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. Double Fly used a variety of old and new media to explore, mock and critique popular subjects and issues in the social system.
On November 23, 2017, Li Ming was announced winner of the Hugo Boss Asia Art Award.
