Chen Jianlong majored in communication design at the LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. He began as a graphic designer, then turned to fashion and accessories. Chen Jianlong’s designs have been featured by L'Ile Aux Ashby, a fashion and lifestyle label, since its inception in 2005. His work has also appeared in local and international media including various editions of Vogue, Glamour UK, The New York Times, Marie Claire, Italy. In 2005, he won the Red Dot Design Concept, an international award for good design. In 2009 he was awarded young entrepreneur start-up funding by Spring Singapore. From 2009 to 2011 his brand was part of the fashion incubator programme organised by Spring Singapore, Textile and Fashion Federation and PARCO Singapore. He used the opportunity to kickstart his first flagship store at PARCO Millennia Walk, Singapore.

Chen Jianlong was part of Born Designer 2012 and his work was showcased by Courchevel at a special event in 2012. In 2013, L’Ile Aux Ashby presented his Spring-Summer collection at Seoul Fashion Week and at Singapore at Digital Fashion Week (DFW) in Singapore. For DFW Chen produced a series of handbags in collaboration with PEDRO. In 2014, he was invited by Senayan City Fashion Runway Hits, Jakarta, to show his latest collection alongside two other Asian designers. Also in 2014 Vogue Taiwan named Chen as one of its ‘Top 10 Talents’.

In 2015, Chen Jianlong was appointed creative director of the MAD Museum of Art & Design, Singapore. Together with the founder Ms Jasmine Tay, he co-curated an exhibition with a group of internationally renowned artists including Danny Yung (Hong Kong), Kongo Cyril Phan (France), Kim Robinson (Australia/Hong Kong), Chiu Ya Tsai (Taiwan), Lee Ki Young (Korea) and Wu Yong Ping (China).
