Li Ming was born in Yuan Jiang, Hunan Province, in 1986. He graduated from China Academy of Art in 2008, and currently works and lives in Hangzhou.
He was a member of the Double Fly Art Center, a collective of nine contemporary male artists founded in 2008. All members of the group were graduates of the China Academy of Art, Department of New Media Art, in Hangzhou. Double Fly used a variety of old and new media to explore, mock and critique the shortcomings of the social system.
Li Ming won the Hugo Boss Asia Art Award in 2017.
