Wang Sishun, Truth, was an exhibition curated by Marion Dana at the New Galerie, Paris, 2015, supported by John Dodelande. The exhibition began with an old copper lantern shielding a fragile flame was carried by Wang Sishun on a six-week journey of 12,000 km in a battered car from Beijing to Paris, carefully maintaining this spark, picked up from the site of a devastating fire. He filmed the flame and asked strangers throughout his journey to etch the word “truth” with a knife on the bonnet of his old Ford car. This was the artist’s first exhibition in Paris and received the generous support of the John Dodelande Collection.
